Compass Point Smart Antenna
The Compass point is a rugged 'smart antenna' system that combines two GPS receivers and two multipath-resistant antennas into a single enclosure about a half-metre long. Using a sophisticated moving base station Real-Time Kinematic (RTK) technique, the Vector provides heading information to within half-degree (0.5) accuracy - enough to replace traditional gyrocompasses for many applications at only a fraction of the cost. The Compass point, besides providing accurate headings with GPS signals, also delivers sub-metre DGPS positioning accuracy when using decoded correction data. The Vector is capable of receiving differentially corrected data from land-based Coast Guard beacon stations (PRO version only) and from Space Based Augmentation Systems (SBAS) such as the U.S. Wide Area Augmentation System (WAAS), the European GPS Navigation Overlay System (EGNOS), and Japan's MTSAT Satellite Augmentation System (MSAS).
Capable of outputting five differentially corrected GPS positions per second, and 10 heading information corrections per second. Also with integrated MEMS (micro electro mechanical systems) sensors to assist in the rapid, robust acquisition of GPS satellite signals. And during periods of differential signal outage, Vector products use CSI Wireless' unique COAST(tm) technology that accurately predicts how errors change over time, and that results in accurate positioning for up to 40 minutes or more.
Sonartron can interface the Compass point with many compatible equipment on you vessel, such as Sat TV, Sodena plotters, Autopilots, heading repeaters etc. This has been a huge seller, for its ease of installation and interfacing capabilities, as well as its attractive price.
