The Olex system constructs seafloor data and maps through real-time data from the echo sounder and GPS. Each time the vessel uses the Olex system, the more accurate and advanced it becomes, in other words, the more sweeps of the sounder over a particular area the more advanced it becomes and the detail level of the seabed and seafloor will become more and more accurate. So the more you use it the better it gets!

The 3D views that comes as standard with the Olex system make it very easy for looking at any particular area in detail, from different view angles and a clear understanding of the topology. The 3D screen can be moved around freely, and any 3D view can be set at different depths, set to following the vessel, stay ahead of it, circle it, basically whatever you want.

The plotter function is quite advanced but yet on the whole easy to use. Marks, comments, tracks, lines, areas, AIS targets and ARPA targets. All of this data is uniquely stored individually as plot layers, and as such the limits of this type of data is only constrained by the boundaries of the PC.

Olex combined with ENC S57 charts from Sonartron has the unique ability to have animated lights and their sectors. Automatic tidal correction, effortless zooming and rotations with a scroll of a trackball.

The Olex system in brief is capable of the following: Integration with ES60 / ES70 and JRC JFV 130 BB sounders, to enable mapping of the seabed, and also to enable Hardness of the sea floor.
AIS & ARPA Targets can be displayed; information including trips and other seabed & hardness related data can be exchanged among Olex users. Integration into the WASSP system, gyro, GPS, GPS gyro, compass, autopilot and various other sensors including temperatures, depth etc.
